2014-05-20: PA 94/Mt Holly, PA

Start: Pole Steeple side trail
Stop: Mt Holly, PA
Day's Mileage: 7.9 miles
Trip Total: 48.2 miles

Waiting in a driveway on the side of PA Route 94 for a shuttle from a local motel. It's our first town stop! This one is in Mt Holly, PA.

A simple but clean motel room. After a few days on the Trail, it'll be nice to shower, change into our "town clothes", and eat food that doesn't include Ramen noodles, oatmeal, or tuna packets.

The first thing that always happens upon checking into the room is the packs explode. Part of the explosion is the result of digging through the pack for town clothes and phone chargers. The other is just some unexplained hiker phenomenon, perhaps a means of simply inventorying gear and letting things air out.

You might think laundry is boring but not me. I get to sit on my butt and watch my clothes [almost] get clean. All of our clothes are synthetics and contain materials built to wick away moisture, keep us warm (or cool), and keep odors and other funk down (a futile task). This means our clothes can't be washed in hot water and should be tumble dried only. I've decided that every coin-operated laundromat in America has a crappy television playing "Everyone Loves Raymond," "Reba,"or "NCIS."
